This year Chief Productions found itself in the Televisual top 30 ranking. It’s a great accolade but for Chief it’s even nicer, being the only UK production company outside of London to make it into the list. It’s also good news for the region which has seen the likes of the BBC relocate to the North.
Colin Offland, CEO at Chief said: ‘It’s actually not our first time on the list but this time Televisual seem to be putting more emphasis on quality of work, awards won and diversity of offering as opposed to level of turnover or how many directors are on your roster and this is what we want to be known for."
He explained: "As we’ve developed over the years we’ve always made sure we grow the right mix of talent, skills and facilities to attract better and better creative opportunities. Presently we are in production on a couple of music videos, a high end food campaign, a big sports brand, some retail ads, a brand funded feature length documentary and light entertainment TV show. It’s all really exciting stuff and we apply our user friendly, ambitious trait to everything we do."
Colin added: "Our studio set up in MediaCity, has definitely given us an edge in a tough market, it’s unique for a production company, we have 2 big studios on site, a state-of the art post-production facility run by some superb talent it means we can control the finished work better which is particularly valuable right now."
Work that no doubt factored into Chief's inclusion in the list includes Cannes Lion award winning documentary for Ubisoft, Wildlands.
Recent work has seen Chris Cottam direct the BBC’s newest telethon The Big Night In remotely for BBC Creative. The 50-second promo/Zoom call brilliantly captures the zoom call chaos with Lenny Henry conducting a stellar cast.
