Cheeky 'Thortles' Capture Emotions of Receiving Cards for Thortful

Covert has again been busy with the incredible director Rollo Hollins and Agency Fold 7 for greetings card brand Thortful on their recent campaign, introducing the world to the absolutely adorable 'Thortles.'

The initial brief was to create a family of illustrated characters (aka Thortles) that capture all the emotions someone may feel when sending or receiving a card.

The studio collaborated with the crazy talented Jade from Studio Spranks to develop the illustrations. Producer Ben said, "By taking a methodical approach and focusing solely on creating the illustrations before we even thought about how they might move or interact, we overcame any challenges."

Once an overall look and feel for the lovable characters had been established, the artists worked to create a library of characters, each with unique appearances and emotions, while keeping within a cohesive theme.

The Covert Studio then worked on animating them into three individual films, revolving around different occasions where someone may send a card. The creative team needed to ensure that the Thortles, while simple in design, still conveyed specific emotions so that the spots evoked all the feels.

The response to the campaign has been great, and viewers love the cute, cheeky Thortles as much as the studio enjoyed making them.
