Following on from the highly comedic animated short Toy Soldiers, comes
Irresistible’s next piece of original content for broadcast as part of Channel 4’s Random Acts Campaign; their late-night, short-form, arts strand.
Due to an imminent and unfilled slot in Channel 4’s scheduling, Irresistible were approached to write and shoot an original script over the course of one week; consisting of 2 days prep and 3 days filming. Given the number of locations needed to fulfil the time-travelling story, this in itself brought a series of challenges. In the space of 3 days, and thanks to a dedicated team of cast and crew, environments reflective of Georgian and Victorian England, 1930s, 60s, 90s, and present day Britain were successfully brought to life, filming across Oxfordshire and East London.
For HotShot Director, Georgia Oakley: "The main challenge rested with having to write and shoot a film in such a tight time-frame. This obviously threw the normal ‘work-flow’ process out the window, but it is always fun to produce something when the pressure is on.
"The aim of the creative was to create a piece of content that TV audiences wouldn’t be used to. I’m a massive fan of films such as ‘Being John Malkovich’ and ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’, so the whole portal concept really interested me. I wanted to take audiences on a journey of pure weirdness: a true, 3-minute, escapism piece. What we’ve managed to accomplish in such a short amount of time is really amazing."
Check out this highly surreal and entertaining depiction of everyone’s favourite past time, and keep an eye out for future Random and Irresistible Acts…
