Caviar Signs Director Thomas Garber for UK And US Representation

International production company, Caviar, have signed Thomas Garber to their UK and US rosters.

Thomas Garber grew up in Saltzburg, a city that he attributes to his creative passions and lifestyle today. ‘It’s well known for theatre, opera and the arts. Being creative is part of the city’s DNA’ he comments, ‘I first studied the arts, then enrolled in film school but ultimately it always comes back to storytelling.’

He started out directing music videos, which he would edit himself but when the music video industry shifted, he moved into editing for stability. He muses, ‘to me editing and directing is almost the same. It ́s all about creating a story. Finding the right timing, specific moments and how you melt them together. On set I know exactly what I ́m after. This gives the whole team a pretty relaxed feeling.’

Garber is also a strong believer in the power of music in film. ‘The right sound or song is such a strong element when it comes to directing. Most of the time, I have already created a play list whilst writing my treatments.’
On joining Caviar, the director comments, ‘Caviar is a big player but at the same time the company feels boutique, handpicked & cutting-edge when it comes to the creative output. It ́s the wide range of opportunities that attracts me And makes me feel home.’

Caviar’s LA Executive Producer/Managing Partner, Jasper Tomlinson, adds, ‘I’ve closely followed Thomas’ work over the last few years. He is an incredibly talented director with a clear distinctive tone of voice. He has a unique cinematic quality to his work and is so obsessive about the detail. He has the rare ability to capture authentic storytelling and emotive performances with beautiful photography. I’m excited we finally have the chance to work together.’

Garber has directed projects for iconic brands such as Jeep, Audi and Johnnie Walker, to name but a few. He reflects, ‘Jeep “Two Words“ was a milestone project for me. It has been aired during the Golden Globes and the vibe of the project was stunning. Working for such an iconic brand like JEEP is an honour. I mean: It ́s those brands you know your whole life and finally you are part of it.’

He further notes that, ‘“The Invitation’ was another one of those milestones. It was released while ‘The Force Awakens’ came out in cinemas. As a Star Wars fan myself, it was thrilling being part of that project. The agency and the client wanted something that really stands out in terms of storytelling and emotions. I ́m still proud of the result, because besides the Star Wars universe, it ́s a simple and touching story
