New Year, new series! Welcome to BLUT Audio's 'Catch of the week'.
Who doesn't like music recommendations from random strangers? Well this might be your new favourite spot! Each week a member of our super cool team will present their favourite album. And be a stranger no more, because you know what they say: You are what you listen to!
While we're still in the relatively early stages of the new year, we might as well start with our favourite albums from 2021!
"Ever since hearing 'Forever Dolphin Love' for the first time, I've simply fallen for Connan Mockasin’s music. Just like back then, the combination of warm guitar riffs blending in with echoing, fuzzy singing and recurring dissonant chords— constantly accompanied by a subtle weirdness, slumbering on the surface — just hits an entirely different spot. I feel unreservedly met in my own weirdness and always invited to go along with the trance like mood. So, I guess you’ve figured it out by the way I’m waffling on here…YES, I’m a fan.
Nevertheless, I still invite you to go on a date with your weirdness, who knows you might actually enjoy it! Let 'Jazz Two', the opening track, set the mood with its mellow sound and sensual acoustic twanging. Allow yourself to be carried away by the psychedelic atmosphere that comes along with the album. Tracks like 'Flipping Poles' and 'Shaved Buckley' stand out through their playful rhythm, their repetitive chorus and groovy sound. 'Jassbusters Two' is perfectly able to take you along on a landscape of simultaneously short-lived euphoria and nostalgia, leaving you stripped off from all superficiality, I guess somewhat free if you allow it." - Luana Martins (junior producer at BLUT)
