Senior manager of display reflects on the evolution of her career

Welcome to Career X Culture, an ongoing series showcasing the talented people of iProspect and their unique backgrounds, passions, and accomplishments.

In this edition, meet Charlene Ford, a senior manager of display at iProspect US as she reflects on the evolution of her career. Read more about Charlene and her role in the Q&A interview below:

Q> What was your first job and what was the most important skill or lesson you learned from that job?

Charlene> My first job was in sales. I was offered a position following my internship with the company, and of course having a job before graduation sounds amazing but , I only lasted three months. The most important skill and lesson that I learned is to do what you love and just how important that is. It's not only about a paycheck, but also about longevity and being happy.

Q> How would you describe your job to a child?

Charlene> This is a fun one. I would say, you know when you're on YouTube watching videos and you see a picture pop up with Legos or with Barbie that says, “shop now,” or “learn more”? That's from me. So please click on it and remember to ask for it at the dinner table later.

Q> How has your career evolved since you first joined iProspect?

Charlene> I started at iProspect in 2017 as a Display Associate. This was my first job in digital marketing and over the last five years, I’ve straddled retail accounts and the health vertical, all of which have required braving the holiday season. Currently I am doing both digital and print as a part of an Integrated Investment team. It’s been quite the transition, but I love it.

Q> What is your favorite aspect of iProspect?

Charlene> Besides getting to bring dogs to work, I would probably say the transparent people and the growth opportunities that are endless. When I say growth, I mean both personal and career  related.

Q> Tell us about an accomplishment you're most proud of during your time at iProspect?

Charlene> This is very broad, but I would have to say that I'm proud of my entire iProspect journey that's gotten me to where I am today. I left my comfort zone in my recent transition and accepted that not only myself, but my team will make mistakes along the way. It’s what we do after, that defines where we’ll be tomorrow or who we’ll be in our next role.

Q> For me, iProspect is the Intersection of _______ and _______?

Charlene> I'm going to say work hard and play hard—no one does it better.

iProspect is built by individuals from different backgrounds, all united by a common passion – the acceleration of brands through knowledge of culture and technology. Interested in learning more? Check out the iProspect LinkedIn page here.
