New York-based visual effects studio Carbon is pleased to welcome the newest member of their team, Pete Mayor, as Senior Flame Artist at the recently launched Los Angeles office, where they have just completed a multi-spot package for the new Windows 8 campaign for Microsoft with Crispin, Porter + Bogusky.
Mayor joins Carbon from Method Studios, where since 2010 he has been a Senior Flame Artist working with agencies like Chiat Day, Crispin Porter, Leo Burnett, 180, Draft FCB, Martin Agency and Deutsch; for brands such as VW, Apple, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Best Buy, Taco Bell, Walmart, Pedigree, American Express,
Old Navy, Dodge, Chrysler and Buick.
Mayor began his career in visual effects in 1995 at The Finish Line, a post facility based in Santa Monica, learning both Henry and Flame platforms while working on music videos and commercials. In 2003 Pete joined Vendetta Post (now Chemical Effects), where he developed his personalized service to finishing, becoming involved in the creative process as early as possible, reviewing storyboards, on location pre-viz, shoot supervision, and collaborating with editorial and color to ensure a smooth finish and delivery. “Pete is a well regarded Flame artist in the LA post community with comprehensive experience in both large and small facilities. We feel our clients will benefit greatly from his level of professionalism and expertise, said Frank Devlin, Partner/EP.
“I’m looking forward to collaborating with Creative Director Chris Noellert and EP Matt Thunell on effects projects, and spending more time on set to provide the supervision and consistency that’s needed throughout these projects,” says Mayor. “The ability to provide CG and motion graphics as well as editorial under one roof ensures smooth lines of communication and workflow. Add in our high speed pipeline connecting the NY and LA offices, and we pack a pretty powerful punch; while maintaining the boutique environment our clients are accustomed to at Carbon.”
Recent Carbon work includes the new multi-spot Windows 8 Campaign for Microsoft with CP+B; BMW for KBS+P, Mountain Dew via Denver agency Motive, Google Chrome (BBH/NY); and the award-winning Lady Gaga and “It Gets Better” spots for Google. The newly launched LA office is currently working on a multi-spot package for Ford with Team Detroit.
