Krista has worked across all aspects of advertising

The signing of multifaceted director Krista Liney to Los Angeles-based production company Canyon Road Films imbues the marketplace with a much-needed dose of personal connection. A former marketing executive, Krista represents the inaugural signing for Canyon Road, and perfectly represents executive producer Lara Wickes’ ethos for the company, one rooted in quality, integrity and extraordinary service.

Known for blending her distinct, engaging storytelling with a true understanding of the client’s needs, Krista Liney has enjoyed an accomplished career across all aspects of advertising for television. Formerly the SVP of brand creative at A&E Networks for HISTORY, Krista is a winner of the NAACP Image Award for Best Documentary. Her ability to galvanise the energy of every production has led her to earn multiple Emmy nominations, along with several PromaxBDA Awards, a Clio and a Telly.

Notably, Krista directed ‘Without Bias,’ a project for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in partnership with Lifetime, showcasing her ability to blend beautiful imagery with a resonant strong message, as the piece highlighted diversity and quashed the notion that there is one archetype of someone with breast cancer. A survivor herself, the project was extremely personal for Krista, becoming a part of her own healing process.

EP Lara Wickes first encountered Krista’s talent while working with her in a client capacity. During this time, Lara was also dealing with the cancer diagnosis of her mother. Together they navigated the journey of loss of life and survival, forging a deep friendship in the process. “As women, we’ve been in the trenches together,” explains Lara. “There is so much about Krista’s transformation as a human being that I adore and respect, including the decision to leave the network to pursue her true passion – directing.”

She goes on to say: “I run my business and my life the same way – listening to my heart first, then letting my head weigh in. It is so telling that my first-ever signing of a director is Krista Liney. Who she is as a person speaks so true to who I am as a business owner.”

“It’s difficult to articulate the level of respect I have for Lara,” states Krista. “She’s a remarkable producer and person, and she has created an amazing team full of heart. Lara elevates my work, supports my vision, and is a proper badass.”

The partnership is off to an auspicious start with the well-received promo Krista helmed for ABC’s ‘The Bachelor’, which aired during the 2020 Academy Awards. Featuring bachelor Peter Weber, the teaser reimagines the iconic pottery scene from ‘Ghost’ with several extra helping hands, and features a cameo from Whoopi Goldberg herself.

Krista continues to write and pitch concepts through her creative direction entity, Maiden, for which Canyon Road will serve as a partner to execute production services. As Krista says: “Bottom line, Lara and her team are my people. The Canyon Road philosophy, culture and approach perfectly matches the way I like to work, the way I want people to be treated, and the magic that comes from that kind of collaboration.”

Immersed in television and film production for 25 years, Lara Wickes took a leap of faith in June 2017 and opened Canyon Road, where she has been thriving since day one. Fostering long-lasting partnerships, Canyon Road is as known for producing high-quality television promos and entertainment content as it is for the care and commitment the team wholeheartedly gives to its clients.
