Doritos has teased its Super Bowl collaboration, brilliantly combining Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road lyrics with the actor’s unique intonation

Sam Elliott brings his unique voice to the immortal lyrics of Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road in a Western-style bar setting in Doritos’ teaser for its Super Bowl LIV commercial.

The spot sees the actor almost reprising his role as the Stranger from The Big Lebowski, fully decked out in cowboy gear, as he enters a shady saloon. He then proceeds to speak the lyrics of 2019’s biggest musical sensation to the rest of the punters in in the Wild-West watering hole.

A second teaser for the Super Bowl spot, which is of course celebrating the chip brand’s Cool Ranch flavour (what else?), sees the Grammy-nominated Old Town Road artist ride into town down a dusty road. The caption on Twitter: “There’s a cooler sheriff in town. And his name is Lil Nas X. #Doritos #CoolRanch”
