Made with McCann Calgary and shot by Kiddo Films in Vancouver, the spot was directed remotely by MAPP in San Francisco
In partnership with McCann Calgary, Kiddo Films has released 'Bigger', a :30 second TVC for WCLC (Western Canada Lottery Corporation). Shot in Vancouver - where the team are based - Kiddo's first post-lockdown project was made with remote director in San Francisco, MAPP. The film also involved a remote agency and clients in Toronto and Calgary.

Aimed at markets in Western Canada, this spot that travels through pivotal moments in the history of 'Bigger!', from Nefertiti's Egypt, to Napoleon's battlefields, to the King Henry's throne room, to a modern day convenience store. Humankind has always been in search of bigger, and now it has arrived, in the form of the 'Bigger Spin' lottery ticket, which allows winners to actually spin a gameshow style wheel to win even bigger prizes.

The spot was to launch WCLC's new ticket - a sequel of sorts to their 'Big Spin' ticket - as this one has the same mechanics, but with a bigger prize pool.

The team shot in studio, achieving its artful and stylised look by using practical foregrounds against rear-screen projections and moveable SteelDeck stages to achieve its five unique scenes. Due to the border restrictions, MAPP directed remotely, and the client and agency attended remotely from Calgary and Toronto.

"It doesn’t take a history buff to tell you that bigger is better. So this project was perfect for a director like me who doodled and daydreamed his way through all of his history classes", said MAPP.

Speaking on creative inspiration, MAPP mentioned Monty Python, Drunk History and Hail, Caesar!: "All of these are beautifully-crafted without taking themselves too seriously. And God knows that while being filmed during a pandemic, we didn't want to do that."

The spot will be both online and on regional TV for eight weeks, going live on 14th September.
