An extensive executive search has culminated with the naming of Shannon Lewis as president of the Canadian Media Directors’ Council. Shannon brings with her over 18+ years of comprehensive business experience in advertising, media & communications. She has held high-profile posts at global agencies like JWT, Sydney, Australia; AMV BBDO & Mindshare, London, UK; Mediacom, Toronto, Canada. In 2015, Shannon founded a communications consultancy that has partnered with the CMDC on strategy & communications.
“I am honoured to be selected as the CMDC’s new President", reports Shannon. “This is a pivotal time to take advantage of the changes happening so rapidly in our media industry. I'm here to help implement a step change for the CMDC. We intend to re- energise our member media agencies, work more closely with new partners, and inspire the next generation of leaders. We aim for each group and individual to continually evolve and prosper in a media climate that has never been less predictable. Given our industry’s dynamic skills, talent, level of trust, breadth of services and connections, there is a massive need to showcase our benefits. If there is one message from media agencies - it's that we are essential in helping clients make smarter decisions.”
Ann Stewart, Co-Chair, CMDC and CEO, Wavemaker comments: “CMDC strives to grow. Hence change is essential. This is an optimal time to bring in Shannon, who embodies collaborative leadership with passion, a sense of purpose and strong industry relationships. With her experience in both media, creative, and on the client side, Shannon has impeccable credentials for us and for our clients. She will work closely with the CMDC executive board and the broader industry to up-the-ante on our core charter: to accelerate optimism, trust, and influence so that our members and our industry can continue to thrive."
Sheri Metcalfe, Co-Chair CMDC and President, Jungle Media added: “We are delighted that Shannon has agreed to become the next President of the CMDC. Her knowledge and wisdom stems from an exceptional range of agency disciplines. Plus, her electric entrepreneurial spirit will be an asset to our association. I’ve no doubt she will be a fantastic leader for the CMDC and the industry."
The Canadian Media Directors’ Council board is scheduled to convene in September. Here, Shannon will outline her vision and manifesto for the evolution of the revitalised CMDC.
