Canada's Deep Diversity DNA On Display at Global Creative Summit

Days after the world watches Toronto’s TIFF Lightbox for the best and brightest of the film industry, the venue’s focus will shift to diversity and inclusion for the world’s best and brightest creatives. Based on Canada’s long history and success with organic, true and authentically inclusive creative, Canada is the rightful home for global creatives to discuss, debate and dissect diversity and inclusion.

In October, the ICA’s inaugural I.D.E.A. Diversity and Inclusion Summit will present fearless and passionate advocates of inclusion like:

· Jen Agg – Restaurateur, Best Selling Author.

· Cindy Gallop - Bestselling Author, Adwoman Extraordinaire and Consummate Badass.

· Lisen Stromberg - Author, Journalist and Cultural Innovation Consultant.

“We are open for business in Canada, and frankly we are leading the world in delivering true diversity in marketing. We want the world to take notice, learn from us and bring their business here,” said Scott Knox, President and CEO of the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA). “While we watch divisions in the UK (Brexit) and the USA (Trump) become gulf-like, we’re still seeing diverse, authentic ads out of Canada that would never run in either country.”  

As the advertising sector faces increasing pressure to improve diversity based on the demands of major global brands like P&G, Unilever, General Mills and PepsiCO, the I.D.E.A. summit will assemble thought leaders and advocates from around the world to talk action and solutions.

Hosted and MC’d by Contagious, the I.D.E.A. summit will explore inclusion and diversity topics in groundbreaking sessions such as:

· World Class Ideas and Creativity

· Brand Bravery

· Brand Authenticity in Community Engagement

· Inclusivity: The Truly Authentic Employee

· Modern Masculinity 

The I.D.E.A Summit will also feature exclusive sessions with the C-Suite leaders of Canada’s most influential organizations including: 

· Twitter (Brands can’t afford to be tone deaf: leading with a larger purpose and cutting through with credibility)

· Facebook

· Rogers Media

The ICA’s I.D.E.A. Summit is the first event to be granted full access to the Tiff Bell Lightbox venue and will take place from October 1-3 – educating brands, agencies and agency partners from around the world on the best practices for diversity and inclusion.

“You only need to look at last year’s Kendall Jenner/Pepsi ‘protest’ ad to see that brands can sometimes be out of touch with inclusion and diversity issues and struggle to present them in an authentic way,” added Knox. “Canada has a rich history of  inclusion and we want to bring that knowledge and awareness to the global advertising community through our I.D.E.A. Summit.”
