The Mill Valley Film Festival, now in its 39th year, is known as the 'filmmakers’ festival.' To promote this year’s event which has grown to an 11-day festival, Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners sought to pay homage to Mill Valley itself – an iconic place that has been the location for some of the best films in history.
Delivering on the tagline, “Where Great Films Live,” the trailer showcases scenic locales and places that have been featured in such iconic films as The Birds, The Godfather, Casablanca, American Graffiti, Basic Instinct, Planet of the Apes and Gattica.
With musical cues and visual pans the trailer pulls viewers into the quest to figure out what films are being referenced. Each shot in the trailer was filmed in modern day in the actual locations where these classic scenes were shot. BSSP took care to set shots at the right times of day to catch the same light and feeling of the original sequences.
An original sound track was created to evoke the original music of each film and genre.
The MVFF is an annual, non-competitive film festival presented by the California Film Institute. It began in the late-1970s and showcases everything from international features, documentaries, shorts and children’s films.view more - Creative
