On October 8th, the Music+Sound Awards are back and officially open for entries. For a third year, the music and sound communities will come together to stage this pioneering competition, celebrating creative excellence in music and sound design in the media.
Anyone involved in the production process from the worlds of advertising, film, TV and gaming are invited to submit their work and become part of the programme’s recognition of the indispensible role music and sound design play in the world of the media.
There are 31 categories in three sections, Best Original Composition, Best Sound Design and Best Sync / Use of Existing Music. The awards will be building on the colossal success of previous competitions and this year’s successful entrants will join the ranks of such Music+Sound Awards winners as The Guardian, “Three Little Pigs” (Woodwork Music, Phil Kay and BBH), GlaxoSmithKline, “The Crowd Is My Only Drug” (Factory Studios, Anthony Moore & Jon Clarke and TBWA London) and British Heart Foundation, “Hard & Fast” (Grey London & Grand Central Recording Studios).
Co-founder, Nick Payne says, "Since its inception in 2011, the Music+Sound Awards have grown to become a national and international stamp of excellence, recognising an area of the industry that has arguably been neglected up until we launched three years ago." He goes on to say, "We are very proud of what we have achieved and are indebted to all the companies and individuals that have supported us along the way."
A stellar panel of industry authorities such as David Arnold (composer, ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘Casino Royale’), Mark Roalfe (Chairman & Exec Creative Director, RKCR/Y&R) and Gareth Smith (VP Sync & Marketing, BMG Chrysalis) will judge the categories. A number of them feature in the “Music+Sound Awards Talks To…” series of exclusive interviews conducted by co-founders, Dan Neale and Nick Payne. Read Abi Leland’s and David Arnold’s revelations here http://www.masawards.com/uk/talkto/abileland and http://www.masawards.com/uk/talkto/davidarnold. Further interviews to be released shortly.
Jury member, Mark Roalfe (Chairman & Exec Creative Director, RKCR/Y&R), says, “It's good to see the Music+Sound Awards go from strength to strength, as the function of music and sound in a production is crucial. Selecting the right soundtrack is a massive part of the creative process which impacts directly on the connection your work has with its audience, and there are many unsung heroes involved in getting it right. The Music+Sound Awards is a welcome way of celebrating the combined achievements of many.”
The entry window opens on 8th October 2013. Entry details and competition rules can be found on the awards site, www.masawards.com.
Nominees for the third Music+Sound Awards will be announced at the beginning of February 2014, and winning entries will be honoured and showcased at a ceremony on 27th February 2014, in London.
