Mark brings years of experience working with Pepsi, Red Lobster, and JCPenney to this new role

Today, full-service advertising agency Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners (BSSP) announced the hiring of Mark Yee as its new head of account management. In this new role, Mark will oversee the agency’s growing account management department and will lead the Blue Shield of California account. Mark’s appointment is the latest in a string of key leadership hires; he will report directly to CEO Tracey Pattani.

“This is a very exciting hire for the agency and I’m honoured to have Mark as a partner leading our wonderful clients and Account team,” said Tracey. “What's special about Mark is his combination of experience, from shops that balance strong creativity and strong strategy, further honed in his consultancy work solving business problems. Mark prides himself on his empathetic approach to working with clients -  getting deep into client’s business has allowed him to identify the right problems and solutions for growth that go beyond marketing. In addition to Mark's client experience, he brings a background in DE&I efforts through his work establishing the LGBTQ+ group at Deutsch LA and through his volunteer work. These experiences will help to  further advance the DE&I initiatives at BSSP.  We’re all thrilled to have him aboard.”

Based in Los Angeles, Mark joins several new leadership team members at the agency who are working remotely, extending the agency’s footprint in other major cities across the country. He brings over 27 years of marketing communications experience working in both agencies and dot com startups. He has also touched a wide range of clients throughout his career including Pepsi, Diamond Foods, Diageo, Red Lobster, Hilton, Tesco, JCPenney, Tailored Brands, Integris Heart Centre, KB Home, and 20th Century Fox. With experience leading the development of traditional advertising campaigns as well as promotions, merchandising, product innovation, digital marketing, store design, and packaging, Yee brings  a holistic view of marketing with him to this new role. Most recently, he served as group account director at  Phenomenon.

“One of the things that attracted me to BSSP is the familial feel the agency has. People care about the work, but most importantly, they care about each other,” said Mark. “I believe that when you work with people that you have a mutual respect for, it fosters an environment for creative and innovative thinking. It creates a place for ideas to be shared, nurtured and grown and for everyone to be heard. I’m excited to be joining this team and I’m ready to help nurture and grow the agency, the people and our clients.”
