Last week saw the international unveiling of the ‘Yamaha: My Garage’ interactive mobile app, a real time, 3D configurator that allows fans of the brand to build their own personalised bike, to their exact specifications, bringing together heritage design and cutting edge technology. You can get the app on iTunes or on Google Play.
The innovative app, conceived and created by CG technology company INDG, is based on its own software framework. It has been launched in order to target fans of motorcycling against the backdrop of Yamaha’s rich history at the heart of this community. Leveraging the advanced 3D technology to tap into the passion points of this niche consumer group, the brand seeks to enhance loyalty and affection among both customers and Yamaha dealerships.
The experience differs from other configurators in that it gives users the feeling of really building a bike in their own garage, in real time and 3D, rather than just picking from a list of options. The sound effects and garage setting have been designed to enhance this feeling of making.
‘Yamaha: My Garage’ features eight different bikes to start from, which then can be customised in dynamic viewing angles, allowing users to create an exact version of their dream bike, in real-time, and on a single screen. Bikes can be stored in a personal garage and shared on social media. Yamaha’s new Sport Heritage model, the eagerly anticipated, retro-styled street bike XSR700 was recently launched and is already available within the app.
Frans Vriesendorp, Founder, INDG, commented: “The ‘Yamaha: My Garage’ app is a prime example of the way INDG sees the future of customisation – as a single, digital point where people can interact with a brand of their preference, get inspiration, advice, compare, buy and be helped after their purchase.”view more - Creative
