Brothers and Sisters and the UK’s top optic artist Myoshka join forces for D&AD’s Student Awards 2013 launch campaign
The international campaign called The Power of Yellow has been created to motivate students and creatives under the age of 26 to enter the D&AD Student Awards to win a Yellow Pencil. The hypnotic campaign featuring yellow and black optical patterns will run through press, posters, digital and murals on university campus buildings across Britain and goes live from this week.
“Breaking into the competitive world of creativity is notoriously difficult. The D&AD Student Awards celebrates and heralds fresh talent which is ultimately the industry’s lifeblood. As an industry we have a collective duty to do everything in our power to encourage talent in all its guises to enter these awards. We wanted to create a visual style that would do justice to the mysterious and disproportionate power that the D&AD Yellow Pencil can have on the career of a young creative. Myoshka epitomizes all that the D&AD Student Awards stand for, his work for brands including Sony Playstation, Nike, Maharishi and Google Chrome have been truly groundbreaking.” Andy Fowler, Creative Director Brothers and Sisters
Naomi and Louise, two students who won a D&AD Student Award last year said: “Winning a Yellow Pencil meant everything to us. Not only did it help our self confidence and belief, it gave us and our work much needed credibility in an often cynical world. Having a D&AD Student Award meant it wasn’t just us talking the talk.”
"D&AD is a benchmark for the industry and a symbol of commercial creativity at its best. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to create artwork that introduces this legacy to a new generation of thinkers, visual artists, communicators and designers. The best... is yet to come," said Myoshka
