Brand New School is announcing the addition of Gerald Mark Soto to their New York studio in the role of animation director.
Gerald has made a name for himself over the last 20 years through design, animation, and direction for commercial, experiential, broadcast, and film projects. He’s known for his creative inventiveness, versatility and unique ability to brilliantly problem-solve. A true professor in and outside the studio, Gerald continues to teach and mentor in the graphic design department at the School of Visual Arts, as he has for over a decade.
Gerald has earned recognition and awards over his career for work with brands including Nike, American Express, The New York Times, Samsung, Squarespace, Apple, and---frequent BNS client - Google. Some of Soto’s most recent content includes leading the BNS animation team for Google’s CES 2020 presence. The massive delivery included the tech giant’s content for a 70-foot tall custom-built screen headlining the Google Playground. Gerald led the 2D animation team, developed and directed the motion language for all the graphics utilised throughout the animation process, and animated a configuration of products on one of the largest exterior screens in North America.
“It’s an honour to be joining the phenomenal team at Brand New School,” says Gerald. “The work we’ve already completed together has been immensely inspiring, and working with them is an amazing next step in my career. The company and culture they’ve managed to create is an ideal environment for growth and my passion for improvement.”
“Beyond being an absolute legend in the NYC design community, Gerald has an innate gift for both animation and mentoring talent. He adds immeasurable creativity to every project he touches,” says Devin Brook, BNS managing director. “His experience is invaluable for leading our animation team, and he’ll undoubtedly put his professorial skills to great use as he mentors our team’s rising talent.”
BrandNewSchool has been helping brands shape their visual voice through inspired design-driven solutions for two decades. We’re not a school or an agency. And while we make things, we’re not simply a production company, visual effects house or motion studio. This identity crisis has served us well over the years, leading to creative opportunities while shaping a diverse team and portfolio along the way. We’re connected by our love for design, humanity, and curiosity, and how they intersect to move us forward.Brand New School, Tue, 28 Jan 2020 12:50:19 GMT
