Aldi has released a teaser for its 2020 Christmas advert that stars Kevin the carrot for the fifth year in a row. In the video, inspired by Top Gun, Kevin and the turkey fly through the sky at high-speed with Kevin shouting, “Brace yourself, Turkey!” Father Christmas soon flies by with his reindeer, stopping to take a photograph.
Social media users have reacted swiftly to the new video and expressed concerns over Kevin’s whereabouts.
“Oh no!!!! I’m heavily invested in the adventures of Kevin now,” tweeted one person. “We all need a bit of Kevin right now,” another added.
SixtyFour Music have been collaborating with McCann Manchester and Aldi since Kevin was first introduced to the world back in the 2016. This year, SixtyFour's original composition for the Teaser film takes on the guise of an original 80's sounding rock inspired film score similar to the sound of the Top Gun soundtrack.
Aldi is expected to release the full advert later this month, although it remains tight-lipped about the exact date.
The discount store has also been teasing shoppers about the Christmas advert on Twitter, tweeting a newspaper front page with the headline: 'Kevin the Carrot absent without leaf'.
