Martin Headon and Olly Wood join agency following student success

Beatte McGuinness Bungay’s Trevor Beattie and Bil Bungay have been searching the creative arena for fresh, new, creative talent – where better than the D&AD Student Awards where Martin Headon and Olly Wood were awarded a Student Pencil.

Not only did the duo win the Open Brief Award, Olly Wood also received a separate nomination in the Make Your Mark/Open Brief 2 category at D&AD.

Formerly students of Marc Lewis’ School of Communication Arts 2.0, Martin and Olly were winners of the D&AD Open Brief competition with their outstanding work for charity movement, Peace One Day.

"We've had an incredible year, and now we can't wait to roll up our sleeves and add to BMB's great reel of creative work," said Olly.

The School of Communication Arts is the first school of its kind. believing in the future of vocational learning and built on open-source tools. Students work on live briefs supported by the industry’s best talent.  Their syllabus condenses 3 years of study into 1, then sends students on placements at some of London’s top agencies. The SCA is an ad industry collaboration, anyone practising in the industry has the ability to contribute towards the curriculum on their Wiki. There are only 30 students and over 500 tutors & mentors.

Marc Lewis, Dean of the School of Communication Arts 2.0 adds:
“Everyone at School of Communication Arts is overjoyed with the news that Martin & Olly have accepted a job with BMB. Trevor is a fantastic mentor, and has been a great supporter since day one. So we are thrilled that he has hired D&AD Students of the Year. Proof that karma does exist.”

The Interbrand-sponsored Open Brief category was for Peace One Day and encouraged entrants from around the world to become a creative activist(s) for this international day of recognition – 21st September 2012.   The duo won a Student Yellow Pencil for the work: with a creative idea that inspired envy in the jury that can be seen here.

It was Martin and Olly’s integrated creative concept that caught the attention of BMB’s Trevor Beattie & Bil Bungay and Host Rosie Arnold of BBH when they attended the D&AD Student Awards Ceremony.

The team join BMB on Monday 13th August.

Trevor Beattie says:  “Martin and Olly are the best creative team I’ve seen for a long, long, long, long time.  We’re very happy to have them doing it for BMB.”

"Two days after Trevor approached us, I won four bottles of beer from BMB's Grolsch digital campaign. It was hard to refuse after that,” says Martin.
