BMB has appointed Flora Joll as head of strategy and promoted Matt Bonny to the newly created role of head of growth.

In her new role, Flora’s brief will be to work across all clients, further build the agency’s strategy department and help shape its strategy offering going forward.

She will report to BMB chief executive officer Jason Cobbold and work closely with BMB chair and founding strategy partner David Bain. Flora takes over the role in January.

Her responsibilities also include overseeing the recruitment of new strategy talent and ensuring the department is future-facing. She will work on key UK and global clients including Samsung, Nike, Farrow & Ball, La Famiglia Rana, Breast Cancer Now, innocent, the Lawn Tennis Association, Menabrea and Bonne Maman.

Flora joins BMB from Creature London, where she has been strategy director since 2021, working across accounts including Dunelm, Child Poverty Action Group, Edinburgh Napier, Inghams and Jose Cuervo.

She has more than a decade of experience working across the industry. Prior to Creature, Flora was strategy director at Now Advertising, working on Ocado and BT. She has also held senior planning roles at BETC London, working with Danone and Swatch, and Leo Burnett Group UK, where she was senior strategist on Co-op. She began her career at MullenLowe.

Jason Cobbold, CEO at BMB, said, “We’re delighted to be welcoming Flora to the agency. From the moment we first met with her, the fit felt natural. Flora brings sharp perspective and ambition along with a healthy sense of humour to our business. We can’t wait to start our work with her.”

Flora Joll, incoming head of strategy at BMB, said, “I'm really excited about joining the team at BMB, heading up the agency's strategic offer heading into the future, and being a part of making more great work.”

Meanwhile, Matt, who was previously head of account management at BMB, takes on his new role immediately.

Matt will be responsible for developing BMB’s new business and marketing strategy. The agency is poised to announce a new hire to support him in the next couple of weeks.

Since joining BMB in 2019 from VCCP, Matt has played an important role in the agency’s creative output, managing campaigns for Nike across Europe, Farrow & Ball, innocent and Gymbox. He was also an instrumental member of the team that won the pitch for Italian premium beer brand Menabrea, the oldest active brewery in Italy, which was announced at the start of this year.

Jason commented, “Matt is a great talent, and a natural fit for the new Head of Growth role at BMB. He gets our offering, our brand and has a natural sense of the things that clients look for. Matt is driven and ambitious and will help grow BMB, working with the team to push us into new and interesting spaces. We’re thrilled he will be taking on this new role.”

Matt added, “We’ve had a great year in the agency for work and wins. I’m looking forward to building on that success next year and looking at how we can be more awarded, more innovative and even more interesting.”

This year, in addition to Menabrea BMB has also added the Lawn Tennis Association to its client list, and launched a major pan-European campaign for FREENOW.

Its work for Breast Cancer Now – “The Chat” – won multiple awards last year, including two Cannes Lions in June and two gold Kinsale Shark Awards. The work was also recently shortlisted for five Campaign BIG Awards.
