Some killer winners at Kinsale 2018 as AMV BBDO’s Blood Normal and Mother’s FCK win Creative Bravery awards

Blood Normal Takes Kinsale Sharks Grand Prix
This weekend the Kinsale Sharks jury awarded a top crop of creative work at the festival on Ireland’s south coast. The jury deliberated under the considered eye of jury president Rosie Arnold as the award show bucked the trend seen across bigger shows, with an increase in entries.

The Grand Prix was awarded to AMV BBDO for Bodyform/Libresse’s ‘Blood Normal’ and two Creative Bravery awards were won by AMV BBDO for ‘Blood Normal’ and to Mother for KFC’s ‘FCK’.

 BBDO New York won Agency of the Year, and BBDO won Network of the Year.

For those on the hunt for new talent, Best Irish New Director and Best New International Director – which is voted by the festival audience – went to Carol Freeman (Irish) for her exquisite hand-painted stop motion film ‘The Bird and The Whale’ and Christian Shilling (International) for a trio of quirky test ads ‘Kill the Noise’, ‘The Man with a Coin’ and ‘Pomegranate’.
In Design, gold went to The Line Animation studio for Gucci film ‘Hallucinations’, while Energy BBDO also took gold for Prescribed to Death. In Music and Sound, Gold went to Factory for Sound Mixing for the recent John Lewis Bohemian Rhapsody ad while Goldstein’s work on Dementia UK’s Together Again earned them a Gold Shark for original music.

In the Ambient jury, seven golds were awarded, including two to Rothco for #JFKunsilenced and two for Bensimon Byrne’s Casey House work Break bread Smash Stigma. Only one Gold was awarded in Print, which went to BBDO Dublin for X Ray Story.

In Branded Content, Energy BBDO picked up another Gold for Prescribed to Death. VCCP took two gold sharks for their Cadbury work while Riff Raff was rewarded for its Nike spot Nothing Beats a Londoner. Belgian agency Wunderman Antwerp took another Film shark in the promo subcategory for MediaMarkt spot Game of Torrents.

In Film Craft there were ten Golds given out, including two to the powerful Soar film, ‘It’s Just a Phase’ from Rothco and Motherland for direction and writing.  

There were no Gold sharks awarded in Radio or in Digital. For a full list of winners, head to the Kinsale Sharks website.
