Black Dog Films Signs Anna Fearon

South London photographer, director, and artist, Anna Fearon has signed to Black Dog for UK representation.

Anna’s work centres on exploring identity, telling nuanced stories exploring Black and queer identity. Her short films and music videos have screened at London’s V&A Museum and featured in the Channel 4 Random Acts series.

Short film, ‘‘Motherhood’ commissioned for Random Acts as part of the Black Britain collection, is illustrative of Anna’s work, discussing nuanced and honest experiences of Black motherhood through a series of intimate portrait. In 2021, Anna’s film ‘Black Love Is The Revolutionary Act’ was featured as part of British Vogue’s annual Pride series, with the magazine praising the film for “invoking a sense of joy”.

Anna is also the founder of print publication ‘Blue’ which focuses on celebrating Black beauty, fashion, and art. The third issues of Blue, due later this year, follows Anna’s recent artist residency with Hypha studios supported by art council and solo exhibition Colour + Movement.

“I am excited to be joining Black Dog and embark on this new creative chapter in my career together. As a director I always strive to tell honest and nuanced stories and I am looking forward to bringing my perspective, voice and gaze to new projects and new audiences. Using my voice to tell the stories that matter, to empower and uplift, and make work that has the authentic representation that I would have liked to have seen growing up,” said Ann Fearon.

“Anna is the perfect addition to the Black Dog team. We’ve tried to cultivate a creative multi-discipline roster that can tell honest stories in all mediums. Anna’s films, work in fashion and art, and involvement in community-based projects aligns with our values and our strengths as a production company. We can’t wait to work with Anna," said Martin Roker, head of Black Dog Films.
