The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) today reveals DJ Trevor Nelson as the headline act for the 2016 BIMA Awards, an industry-wide party celebrating Britain’s most innovative and exciting digital work, taking place on Thursday 15th September.
Legendary DJ Trevor Nelson will play a headline set at the awards party. A pioneer in the urban music scene, Trevor started his broadcasting career at then pirate station Kiss FM before moving to BBC Radio 1 to present the first ever national RNB show ‘The Rhythm Nation’, and remained there for further 17 years. Trevor hosted ‘The Lick’ for 11 years on MTV Base, making it the longest running show on the channel. He holds four MOBOS, an MBE for his work with the millennium volunteers, and a special gold lifetime achievement award for his services to broadcasting from the Sony Radio Academy Awards. He currently hosts shows on Radio 1Xtra and on Radio 2.
DJ, broadcaster and photographer Norman Anderson AKA Normski is back by popular demand to host the party – his third year running. Normski is a leading authority on urban and contemporary culture, and has had a prolific career in the field of music, television, photography, fashion and journalism. As a DJ, he’s performed at clubs including Ministry of Sound, Fabric, Pacha and Café de Paris. As a broadcaster, his credits include BBC2’s ground-breaking dance music show Dance Energy, Kiss FM’s Rap Academy and Channel 4’s Board Stupid.
Guests at the BIMA Awards party, which will take place at One Embankment, can enjoy a free bar all night, delicious canapés and bowl food, plus interactive experiences and a few exciting surprises throughout the night.
Tickets for the party are available on the BIMA Awards site.
