The directing duo won in the film and film craft categories

Renowned Belgian directing duo Koen Mortier and Joe Vanhoutteghem, operating under the alias Lionel Goldstein and co-founders of CZAR Brussels, have once again etched their names in the annals of advertising history. Commercial 'It’s Handy To Have a Dick', directed by Lionel Goldstein for Equal Pay Day with Mortierbrigade, has clinched the gold award, along with silver and two x bronze in Film and Film Craft categories. Gold in ‘social behaviour’, silver in ‘not-for-profit / charity / government’, bronze in ‘cultural insight’ and Bronze in Best Direction Film Craft.

Lionel Goldstein's latest triumph at the Eurobest Awards adds to their illustrious career, marked by an interest for the absurd and a near-documentary style that has consistently received international praise. The directors' unique approach has earned them recognition since 2001, when Lionel Goldstein started following a path that was different from the directing careers Koen and Joe had established individually.

Their international recognition began at the Golden Lions during the Cannes Advertising Festival in 2002 and 2003 for the FRISK ‘Glasses’ / ‘horses’ and XBOX ‘Ear Tennis’ campaigns.

Since then, they have established an honourable history with a total of no less than 14 Lions at Cannes Advertising Festival. Including four gold lions, the latest in 2021 with ‘Eternal Pregnancy’ for Equal Pay Day and a Grand Prix at Eurobest ‘03. Recent highlights include awards for their commercials, 'The Umbilical Cord' 2022 and 'It's Handy to Have a Dick' in 2023 for Equal Payday together with Mortierbrigade.

These achievements underscore Lionel’s ongoing commitment to creative excellence and innovative storytelling about societal and cultural themes.
