Beautiful New NHSBT Spot Urges You to #BleedForEngland

Finish have completed the VFX work on the commercial ‘#BleedForEngland’ as part of the latest campaign for Give Blood by Pablo London.

Work by award-winning Colourist Paul Harrison, Senior Flame artist Steve Murgatroyd and Flame artist Andy Copping.

Director Simon Stock of Squire has created a stark visual reminder of the advantages to giving blood with this stunningly poignant film. Using the England rugby team’s national symbol of the English Rose, we open on a dying bloom, dry and shriveled, and watch it transform to full living beauty as the blood begins to coarse through it’s veins.

Finish VFX artists Steve Murgatroyd and Andy Copping completed the effects in Flame, which included combining CGI elements, passes from Baselight to create the colour transition, clean up on multiple shots and creating the effect where the blood falls onto the petal and brings it back to life.

This beautiful 30 second film, voiced by Sir John Hurt, shows the symbolic portrayal of life resurrected for the latest campaign for Give Blood released by agency Pablo and produced by Squire to encourage people to donate. To support the TV commercial are four online films featuring some of the nation’s favourite rugby stars, coinciding with the Rugby World Cup.
