Barbarian has announced the promotion of Courtney Berry to managing director, a newly minted role at the agency. In this role, she will be responsible for leading key client relationships including JBL Audio, L’Oreal, Panasonic Avionics and Ad Council, and implementing the strategic vision of the agency. She will directly oversee the account management and project management departments, oversee agency operations and spearhead the agency’s cultural initiatives.
In her new role, Courtney will continue to position Barbarian for the future, starting by reimagining the account management department. Courtney believes that account management should operate as a group of true business consultants and partners in facilitating great creative work. To achieve this, she has been grooming the next generation of 'CMO whisperers', putting a greater focus on developing her team members’ strategic, creative and technical prowess, and also hiring diverse team members to expand the breadth of expertise. Her dedication to diversity extends into the broader agency as she takes on the role of executive sponsor of Foundation, Barbarian’s newly formed gender equality group.
“Courtney is an integral part of Barbarian’s culture and she has played a large role in the agency’s reinvention over the past year. She is the perfect person to lead Barbarian while we continue our active search for a new CEO,” said Aaron Lau, CEO of Cheil North America.
With 14 years of experience, Courtney’s work spans the worlds of beauty brands, like L’Oréal and Pantene, alongside heritage brands, like the NFL and Gillette. She has managed global business and worked directly out of Europe. Throughout her career at Publicis, Havas, BETC Paris, Grey and now Barbarian, she aspires to curate breakthrough work that bridges gender gaps and challenges the status quo.Barbarian, 1 year ago
