Barbarian, the creative agency backed by Cheil Worldwide, today announced the appointment of Steven Moy to CEO effective immediately.
Widely known in the industry for creating digital strategies that revolutionise companies and energise business growth, Moy will position Barbarian as the lead agency for brands inventing the future. He brings 30+ years of multi-disciplinary experience and a strong track record of creating high performance teams focused on profitable digital transformations, strategic acquisition of capabilities (M&A) and high growth partnerships. For decades, Steven has led large-scale digital transformation initiatives to redefine the world’s leading brands, including McDonald’s, Mass Mutual, Carnival, Marvel, Shiseido, Express Scripts, Girl Scouts USA, Johnson & Johnson, Huawei, CVS Health and many others.
“Steven has long been a fearless advocate for his clients, a perfect fit for Barbarian’s equally-as-fearless tenacity in helping our clients reach their ambitions,” says Courtney Berry, Barbarian managing director. “His track record in redefining go-to-market models will only further empower our clients with Barbarian’s relentless push for meaningful innovation."
"Technology innovation is redefining the relationship between brands and their customers. This demands for agency partners like Barbarian who can leverage technology to reduce friction, data to power new ideas and creativity to bring new products and services to life,” says Moy. “I look forward to propelling Barbarian’s culture of fearlessness, invention, ambition and entrepreneurship to help our clients transform and disrupt their industries.”
Moy most recently served as EVP and US chief technology officer at R/GA where he monetised the firm’s technology partnership and investments and delivered business results for clients globally. Before R/GA, he served as Isobar UK’s chief executive officer and prior as SapientNitro’s regional vice president for the Northeast region.
Over the last two years Barbarian has tripled its client list, most recently adding Baker Hughes GE and Panasonic Avionics to its roster, yielding a 73% pitch win rate and YOY growth of over 168%. Continuing its legacy as an innovative agency partner, the agency is investing in and bolstering its technology capabilities to stay ahead of the shifting marketplace, and will even be featured at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in a few short months.Barbarian, 7 months ago
