New director of content and communications to support increased demand for AZK Media’s B2B marketing services

B2B global marketing, content and communications firm, AZK Media, has announced the appointment of leading business and technology journalist, Vanessa Mitchell, as its director of content and communications.

The appointment follows a demand for the consultancy’s outsourced CMO capability, as organisations re-shift marketing spend and resources, looking to move away from legacy and inefficient marketing models to find for more flexible ways of obtaining maximum value from their marketing dollar.

“The current pandemic and new remote ways of working has made more businesses rethink the value of their marketing investment, and are tapping into specialised consulting firms to support them through, and post, the pandemic,” AZK Media’s founder and managing partner, Azadeh Williams, said. “Vanessa has a solid background in journalism across the technology sphere, a vision for marketing, and unique, specialised marketing strategy talent to strengthen and scale our capability to service our clients - and help them navigate the uncertain path ahead.”

A career shift from media to marketing

A seasoned communications expert, Vanessa was a senior journalist for CMO Magazine and content strategist for the marketing services arm at IDG Australia, where she oversaw content delivery for a vast suite of B2B organisations and vendors across the Cloud, SaaS, AI, BI, martech, adtech, CX, health, and retail sectors. Prior to this Vanessa was the editor of TheAustralia and New Zealand Property Journal focusing on valuation technology, and held multiple positions across a suite of top tier publications for NewsCorp. Vanessa has also had senior media advisory and PR roles, advising large multinationals, government, and NGOs.

“I’m excited to get back to a client advisory and strategy role to solve a real gap in the market where marketers and PR agencies have traditionally struggled to get solid results for clients,” Vanessa said. “It’s something I saw working both on the media side as a journalist, and client-side as a PR director. Articulating marketing messages across B2B sectors is extremely nuanced, and AZK Media’s innovative approach and strategic CMO capability is exactly what B2B organisations need to help transform and gain a competitive edge in challenging times.”

Shaping the future of B2B marketing

Founded in 2017 by global journalist, content marketer and media lecturer Azadeh Williams, AZK Media has grown from servicing a small suite of local clients, to over 35 global clients across Australia, US, Singapore, UK, Israel, India and Canada. In 2018, Wayne Williams joined the ranks as head of brand, business and development, to further strengthen the consultancy’s brand, design and multimedia capability, while streamlining business services and delivery.

“B2B businesses are realising there are smarter ways to integrate marketing, PR, content and inbound efforts to gain a competitive advantage in these volatile times,” Wayne said. “We’re excited to have Vanessa join AZK Media as we continue helping businesses understand how they can revolutionise their B2B marketing strategy, eliminate inefficiencies and pain points - and drive more powerful results.”
