VMLY&Rx Tokyo also announces three additional international hires

VMLY&Rx Tokyo announced today the appointment of award-winning creative talent, Tetsu Fujikawa. In September, VMLY&Rx Tokyo was launched as the first healthcare agency network to focus on Rx specialty pharmaceutical companies developing breakthrough therapies. Tetsu joins the team at a time of expansion following a year of transformation in the health and pharmaceutical sector in Japan.

Tetsu’s background in creating award winning campaigns focusing on customer experience, mixed media, editorial and content and digital and interactive events will bolster the Tokyo offices’ health tech and customer experience credentials.

Tetsu Fujikawa comments:“From the moment I met the VMLY&Rx team I saw an impressive commitment to developing campaigns that improve our health experiences. This is a perfect cultural fit for me. I’m passionate about transferring my understanding of customer experience and technology to promote better, healthier lives for us all. There’s never been a more important time to be involved in health communications and I think there has never been a better time to join VMLY&Rx Tokyo.”

Tetsu’s work has won two SABRE awards – the development of the first interactive running experience event platform for sport brand Asics collaboration with Asics Institute of Sport Science and the other for the Japan National Tourism Organisation. He developed the first cinemagraphic experience-based tourism platform for Tohoku earthquake restoration campaign. He has extensive experience across PR, Narrative Making, Branding, Customer Experience (CX), Digital Marketing and will led VMLY&Rx Tokyo’s technology offer within healthcare.

Tetsu’s announcement is accompanied by the expansion of VMLY&Rx Tokyo team with the appointments of Kie Kato as Art Director, Shen Liu as Account Executive and Rika Okazaki as Project Coordinator. All new talents have both local and international experience – helping to drive the ongoing expansion of the VMLY&Rx network around the world. These hires also come on the back of the promotion of Asami Fueki to Client Growth Director in 2019. Since her appointment Asami has helped to lead a development to agency’s culture including a new return to work programmes to support working parents.

Kenji Hanabata, CEO VMLY&Rx Tokyo added: “Being able to attract new talent of this caliber is a result of the continued investment in our culture as well as the expansion of our services to support growth within health communications and advertising.

Tetsu’s arrival brings award winning customer experience and technology to our work within health – both cornerstones that will help us drive the future of connected healthcare marketing in Japan. These are exciting times, and I am delighted to welcome our new team members as well as thank our existing teams for the great work they continue to do. This is the healthcare’s time - and we are ready.”
