The Amazon-owned audiobook company Audible and digital agency Firstborn are bringing people's audiobook experiences to life through a visually striking social campaign where professional artists create work based on fans' submissions. The campaign encouraged fans to share their own audiobook experiences on Facebook and Twitter, submitting a picture and description of where the stories they had read transported them.
Winning submissions were chosen by Audible and handed over to professional artists who brought the fans' stories to life. The artists for the first round, for stories in the sci-fi and fantasy category, included Forbes 30 Under 30 illustrator Victo Ngai as well as American comic book creator Annie Wu, and art director and illustrator Justin Maller. The campaign features artists who not only would bring diverse styles of creativity, but also who possessed visual sensibilities that aligned with each of the genres of audiobooks being featured. Supplemental behind-the-scenes videos of each artist at work also provides people with a more intimate view of their artistic process, their approach and philosophy, and, just as important, their personality.
