Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce appoints agency to develop digital presence

Atmosphere Proximity Named Global Digital Lead For DCTCM

Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) named Atmosphere Proximity, a leader in the digital space, digital agency of record after a multi agency pitch process. 

The Omnicom digital agency has been tasked with developing a global digital presence, which incorporates mobile, online and social, with the ultimate goal to increase leisure and business tourism. 

“Atmosphere Proximity demonstrated clear alignment with the vision and aspirations for Dubai Tourism and their ability to support us in bringing this vision to life in a dynamic and creative way across all digital touch points,” said Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing. 

With an immersive digital experience that works across all screens, DCTCM will see the traveler’s virtual and online experience redesigned to augment the on-the-ground travel experience. Atmosphere Proximity will work with nine principle offices across the network, to launch an innovative worldwide digital customer experience. 

DCTCM, an affiliate of Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), is the principal entity responsible for developing and promotion Dubai’s proposition as a leisure and business destination to a global audience. With close to 11M international visitors annually, the department is looking to double the tourist traffic to the Emirate by 2020 and triple the revenue from this increased tourism. 

The city is already investing in ways to help achieve that goal through its mission to become the region’s first wi-fi-enabled ‘smart city’ — an initiative that involves linking every resident and visitor to valuable government and private sector services via mobile applications and smart devices. 

And in an effort that builds off the momentum established with Dubai’s World Expo 2020 win, Dubai Tourism earlier this year joined Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, in launching #MyDubai. This city-wide endeavor is intended to create the world's first autobiography of a city.  The program encourages residents to share compelling moments of their lives in photos and videos across social media to showcase the true culture and soul of the city for the rest of the world. Atmosphere Proximity will help curate and incorporate content from these submissions into Dubai Tourism’s digital platform in a variety of ways.
