Toronto-based production company ANIMALS is thrilled to announce the addition of director Haya to its roster for Canadian representation.
Haya, a director of Pakistani-Canadian heritage who was brought up in Switzerland and currently resides in Brooklyn, infuses her eclectic upbringing and craft-driven approach into each project.
Her debut feature, ‘Quickening’, premiered to critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2021, with Cameron Bailey selecting it as CEO’s Choice to present to the Patrons Circle. In addition, Haya’s 'Working With Cancer' campaign for Publicis Groupe won the Grand Prix for Good at Cannes Lions in 2023.
Haya is an alumna of the Canadian Film Centre Director Lab, TIFF Filmmaker Lab, and a Share Her Journey TIFF Fellow. She is currently in development on her second feature, ‘A Prayer For My Brother’.
Haya comments, “I am thrilled to join the roster at ANIMALS because we share values of creativity and commitment. Our industry is collaborative and finding the right balance of passion and hard work is essential. I found that enthusiasm in Chris and Miriana, and I can’t wait to share what we do together.”
Chris Hutsul, executive producer at ANIMALS, adds, “Haya’s work resonates deeply. Her ability to capture intimate human moments, along with her mastery of camera language, allow her to create films that are so beautiful and engrossing, it’s often hard to look away. Whether the subject matter is joyful or poignant, the richness of the work leaves a lasting impression. ANIMALS is honoured to add Haya to its family of storytellers.”
