Old Film 4 indent inspires the mixed media video from FMLY CRTV director Ben Brook

FMLY CRTV director Ben Brook returns to collaborate with No Rome on his new single 'Elevator Music (OMG)'.

The mixed media heavy video continues on from Rome’s previous release ‘Brother’ but with graphics hand drawn by Ben himself added into the mix to blend analogue and digital throughout the video.

Ben said, “The video is underpinned by a perpetually rising shot taking us up through derelict floors that each subtly tie into Rome’s self-reflection and link back to themes we established in the previous video Brother. It was inspired by the old Film4 ident which repeated scenes across a similar movement. All the movements were timed out to match speed across scenes. Then we had a lot of fun around this main technique adding in techy cctv and NeRFs and more graphic analogue edits of AI visuals and some repeated imagery from the last video to place these in the same visual world. It’s always great watching everything come together on the day, it was quite a small space to work within – Set Sisters had such a task re-dressing for all the scenes and Sonny tweaking and re-lighting to vary across new takes meant there was a lot of moving parts but we managed to get just enough coverage after dropping a couple more ambitious/time-consuming takes, and we definitely achieved the desired look.”

‘Elevator Music (OMG)’ is out now on Dirty Hit.
