AnalogFolk Backs Tech Start-up & Houseshare App Roomr

AnalogFolk has backed the launch of a new start-up created by two of the independent digital agency’s former folk.

Roomr is a service for iOS and Android designed for housemates to find and create the best houseshares in London. It has been created by Paul Davis and Jordan Burnett, previously a Digital Designer and a Creative Technologist respectively at AnalogFolk. 

The new free app is based on the principle that ‘homes are best shared’ and unlike listing sites in the marketplace, it is a community of house sharers where profiles are tagged with individual interests. Roomr aims to disrupt the marketplace and change the current mind set of people looking for a spare room within a property to instead search for likeminded, potential housemates. 

Paul Davis, Founder at Roomr, said: “AnalogFolk has awesome expertise in nurturing digital experiences, so it made perfect sense to harness this to give Roomr the best chance of success. We also love the creative space.”

Matt Dyke, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at AnalogFolk, commented: “When we saw Paul and Jordan’s prototype for a start-up business, we immediately asked them to resign... and invested in them that very same day.”

Davis and Burnett developed the idea for the service as a side project whilst working at the agency. With vast experience in digital product and platform development, backing from AnalogFolk has included financial, strategic, technology and marketing support. The agency will continue to play a significant role in on-going launch plans and future development. Roomr will also be based out of AnalogFolk’s office in London.

Roomr has also collaborated with pixel artist Chris Gilleard, who has created a set of illustrations that have been woven into the experience of the app.
