Academy's Frederic Planchon captures the extreme paranoia felt by drug drivers

Drug Driving is a killer on Britain’s roads causing hundreds of serious and fatal collisions every year.

That is why, on 2nd March new legislation will come into force in England and Wales to make it easier to catch and convict people who drive on drugs. DfT wanted to communicate the law changes to those who will be affected, Drug Drivers. AMV BBDO have created a multichannel campaign that talks to this discreet audience to announce the law change and warn of the consequences.

Along with radio, OOH and digital, AMV BBDO have created a 60 second film that dramatises the paranoia felt by drug drivers. The film follows a drug driver on his drive home after a night out. His mind is playing tricks on him; he thinks he’s seeing the blue lights of the police everywhere. The protagonist finally thinks he’s made it home, only to realise there’s a real police car in the rear view mirror. The film ends by reminding drug drivers that especially now they are right to be paranoid.
