AKQA has announced the promotion of Roman Ptakowski to the role of managing partner in North America after nearly five years of leading the Atlanta studio as managing director.

As managing partner of AKQA’s Atlanta studio, Roman will report to AKQA president, North America Tesa Aragones, with a particular focus on delivering industry-defining experiences in partnership with clients.

During his tenure, AKQA has launched pioneering programmes that have transformed the digital landscape for clients such as Delta Air Lines, Coca-Cola, and UPS. Roman has played a key role in expanding the Atlanta office and cultivating an engaged, diverse, and inclusive studio culture. A visionary leader and collaborator, he is passionate about creating career development opportunities for all team members.

In addition to his managing director role, Roman was appointed global client lead for The Coca-Cola Company in partnership with Open X by WPP in 2022. In this role, during this time, he led a global team within AKQA to deliver industry-leading solutions for Coca-Cola, while creating new opportunities for studios across AKQA. In the past five years, the Atlanta team has grown from 35 people to upward of 100, working with key clients including Delta Airlines, Chick-fil-A, UPS and Coca-Cola and growing annually in revenue.

AKQA managing partner Roman Ptakowski said: “I feel very fortunate to work with an amazingly talented team, especially in our Atlanta studio. It is an honour for me to continue my journey with AKQA. I am excited to continue my partnership with Tesa, collaborating on the North American region and helping expand opportunities for other studios within AKQA.”

AKQA president, North America Tesa Aragones commented: “At AKQA, we take pride in empowering our people to grow from within. Roman is an extraordinary service-oriented leader, respected by his team, colleagues and clients. Throughout his AKQA career journey, Roman has exemplified our company values and has been instrumental in our growth and success. He is an entrepreneurial innovator who consistently provides our clients with quality work and thought leadership. His experience and ability to work across multiple markets and clients to foster a generous and ambitious creative culture have helped build a successful studio in Atlanta. Above all, I can’t wait to see what he does next.”

AKQA plans to double the number of people working at its studios in the U.S. over the next five years, and recent hires and promotions reflecting the strength of opportunity in the region.
