Adjani Salmon has signed to Snapper Films for commercial representation.

Adjani Salmon is a British-Jamaican filmmaker who is best known for creating and acting in the critically acclaimed hit Web Series ‘Dreaming Whilst Black’.

‘Believe it, Be It’ appears to be the mantra of the exceptionally talented Filmmaker Adjani Salmon..

When he was thirteen, he had a 4-megapixel digital camera and he made what, arguably, was the next ‘Hidden Dragon’. Well, not quite. But he did make some unique renditions of the Matrix, Crouching Tiger and many more iconic Kung FU films. All shot in one take (given that he had no clue how to edit). “We would get friends to do a fight sequence with swords (sticks) backwards, then afterwards throw the sticks away. When replayed backwards, it would look like the swords were summoned, then an epic fight sequence would ensue. …”. A storyteller from a young age, his notorious early work led him to eventually renouncing his proposed architectural career in favour of the “12-hour shoot days and sleepless nights editing’.

After eventually learning how to edit and other essential filmmaking skills, Salmon had a one-way ticket to London where he would study at the Met Film School. Whilst there, he directed seven films. His graduation film ‘His Father’s Son’ was screened at numerous festivals such as Cannes, Blackstar and the Montreal World Film Festival.

The enterprising filmmaker went on to develop a web series called Dreaming Whilst Black’. He said it was a case of ‘Do your absolute best with whatever you have’. And what Salmon did have was many gifted friends, YouTube, heaps of talent and an unrelenting desire to tell stories.

Stories that would come to appeal to many truth-seeking souls. ‘Dreaming Whilst Black’ amassed 40,000 views in the first three weeks of airing and the pilot has been aired on BBC 3.

On ‘Dreaming Whilst Black’, Salmon comments that: "We present the story as a minefield where we show things which can be funny but might be racist, and we’re not going to tell you which is which. You’ve just got to laugh wherever you feel fit and ask yourself why."

Salmon is on his way to becoming a global storyteller. He narratively and visually weaves together worlds that talk to the daring dreamers. Stories that make us laugh, that unite us and that have the power to reflect humanity at our most gruesome, and at our most glorious.

Helen Hadfield comments: "Adjani Salmon is a rare find, an innovative, vibrant young director overflowing with ambition and vision. His appetite for learning and thirst for crafting stories will fuel brilliant filmmaking. We are very excited to see what lies ahead and have every confidence that he has what it takes to make an exceptional ad. We are so looking forward to making that happen. "
