The course will give 10 young Londoners a chance to learn advertising skills and find out what working is like in an agency

adam&eveDDB is collaborating with the mentoring social enterprise Joined Up Thinking  (JUT) to launch a new, ten-week training programme called Creative Media.

The course, which begins this month, will give as many as 10 young Londoners who are not currently in employment, education or training a chance to learn a variety of advertising skills and find out what it’s like to work in different areas of an agency.

The students will also be given a real client brief and, under the guidance of agency mentors, develop their own strategic and creative response. They will have access to their in-house production facilities and by the end of the course they will have created a piece of creative work which they can use to start a creative portfolio.

Mottie Omideyi, CEO of JUT, said: “Our training programme, which has been funded by the Mayor of London, uses creativity to help young people gain skills, grow in ability and in confidence. Having a great advertising agency like adam&eveDDB partner with us to deliver a Creative Media programme is amazing for us and a fantastic opportunity for our young learners.”

Jemima Monies, deputy managing director at adam&eveDDB, said: ‘We are really excited to partner with Joined Up Thinking to create a course that will give young people, who otherwise might not have the opportunity, a chance to learn about our industry and the skills they need to forge a career in it.”

Joined Up Thinking is a community interest company which provides one-to-one mentoring for young people as well as working with schools and other organisations to offer group mentoring. Its ambition is to empower young people to stand out and achieve their potential.

Joined Up Thinking works with all young people but focuses particularly on those who are Black or from Asian or minority backgrounds, in recognition of the fact that these groups to be the most vulnerable and prone to discrimination. Founded in 2016 and based in Faversham, JUT’s mentors are based in South London and Kent.
