Academy producer Medb Riordan has been promoted to work alongside Simon Cooper as Joint Managing Director of the company.
Medb has been at the company for 10 years, starting on reception and moving up through the ranks to work on and produce much of the company’s award winning work. She is the perfect example of Academy’s tradition of promoting from within.
Medb had this to say of her new role in the company, ‘Under Lizie and Simon’s careful guidance, Academy and its world class directors have created some of the most influential work in film, advertising and music. After 10 happy years, I am incredibly excited to now play part in the future of the company, and to help navigate the ever-changing landscape of creative content. And to never sleep again.’
Lucy Gossage has also been promoted to become Executive Producer and Head of Production. Lucy has been a long time producer for Si & Ad and Frederic Planchon and like Medb, has collaborated with all of the directors in her 17 years at the company.
The reshuffle sees owner Lizie Gower take more of an ambassadorial role in the company she founded 34 years ago. Of the new appointments she said, ‘I’m so proud of our home grown new management team. It feels like we’ve assembled something of a dream team in Simon, Medb, Lucy and Head of Sales, George Floyd. Although I’m not retiring, I am looking forward to being a little further from the coal face. Might take up golf….’
Simon Cooper added this of his new business partner, ‘Medb has been a fabulously driven, creatively ambitious and supportive member of the Academy team for years and I’m absolutely delighted to now have her as a full partner as we take Academy into the future.’
