Rob Dunham from A-MNEMONIC Music shares his favourite tracks from artists including Calvin Harris, The Chemical Brothers, and Lizzo

A Jumble of Contemporary Sounds in New Music Thursdays

“Juice” is a bouncy new song from Minneapolis based rapper Lizzo. The track is a feel-good retro-inspired funk/rap/pop song, similar in vibe to “Uptown Fun”- produced by Ricky Reed. The song has been described as a self-esteem boosting anthem, witty, and full of fire. Lizzo is a founding member of the indie hip hop groups The Chalice, Grrrl Prty, The Clerb, Ellypseas, and Absynthe. Her debut album, Lizzobangers, was released in 2013.

Self Esteem AKA Rebecca Taylor is the lead singer of Sheffield based group Slow Club. Known for her collaboration with American Rock band Django Django, she sang lead vocals on their single “Surface to Air”. They have repaid the favour by producing her solo album. The debut single from the album “The Best” gives us a taste of things to come - and I can't wait.

Also worth having a listen to is the collaboration between Calvin Haris and Rag’n’Bone Man – an unlikely pairing, but most definitely a success.
