A free personalisable digital Advent calendar

24 Days of Happiness from Specialmoves

For Christmas 2012 Specialmoves has created ‘24 Days of Happiness’, a digital app to make mums, dads, grannies and grandpas all over the world very happy this Christmas – all in aid of a great cause.

How it works

Visit www.24daysofhappiness.com on your desktop or iPad before 1 December to create and send your very own personalised advent calendar to family and friends.  It’s easy: just drag and drop your favourite photos from Facebook or upload them from your hard drive. The lucky recipients can download the calendar as a screensaver which reveals a new image every day in December or visit their calendar online.

The app is completely free to use, but calendar-makers are encouraged to make a £2 voluntary donation to child mentoring charity Friendship Works.  Specialmoves are aiming to raise at least £5000 this Christmas to help the charity give better life chances to disadvantaged children.

The clever bit

We’ve designed an experience that is incredibly easy to use on both desktop and iPad. Helpful tools allow you to filter by Facebook friend so you can track down interesting photos and even auto-fill the calendar if you’re short of time.

Once your album is complete, a custom screensaver is built dynamically for Mac and PC for you to share and once installed, it even works if you go offline.

24 Days of Happiness was built using a variety of technologies including HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, MongoDB & .NET MVC.

“Our work is all about making people happy or more productive – this definitely ticks the first box.  It’s the ideal way to put a smile on the face of your friends and relatives in the run up to Christmas, particularly the ones who live far away and you don’t get to see that often,” said Pascal Auberson, Technical Director, Specialmoves.
