2019 Spikes Asia Award Winners Announced

A Grand Prix was awarded in every Spike category for the first time in ten years

The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity closed with a highly anticipated Awards Show to honour the very best work from across Asia-Pacific’s branded communications industry in 2019. 3945 entries were submitted this year in the Spikes Asia Awards, spanning a broad spectrum of creative disciplines, including the new Creative eCommerce Spike Award, launched in 2019, and Glass – the Award for Change, launched in 2018. Spikes Asia juries are comprised of industry experts from across APAC, who bring a diversity of backgrounds and specialisms to judge and award creative excellence in the region. In the Young Spikes Competitions, there is a winning team from Mongolia this year, demonstrating the incredible level of up-and-coming talent from emerging parts of the region, alongside established markets.

Joe Pullos, Festival Director, Spikes Asia said, “The Spikes Asia Awards are the definitive benchmark for creativity in the region and it was fantastic to see the quality, breadth and diversity of work that was awarded a coveted trophy on stage tonight. Congratulations to all of our winners – only the very best ideas and execution are awarded – the creative bar for the year ahead has now officially been set.”

Brand Experience and Activation

From 450 entries received, 42 Spikes were awarded: 6 Gold Spikes, 12 Silver, 23 Bronze and the Grand Prix was presented to ‘The Open Door Project’, for The Millennium School, by FCB India, Delhi, India


Creative eCommerce

In the first year, 53 entries were received, and 4 Spikes Awards were presented: 3 Spikes, as well as the Grand Prix that went to ‘Hagglebot’, for Flipkart Internet Pvt Ltd, by Dentsu Webchutney, Bangalore, India


Creative Effectiveness

From 33 entries, 4 Spikes were awarded in Creative Effectiveness: 3 Spikes and the Grand Prix win for ‘Project Free Period’, for Johnson & Johnson, by DDB Mudra, Mumbai, India


Design

In Design, from a total of 304 entries, 34 Spikes were awarded: 7 Gold Spikes / 9 Silver Spikes /17 Bronze Spikes. ‘Signs of Love’, for ANZ Bank Australia, by Revolver / Will O'Rourke, Sydney / TBWA\Melbourne, Australia took the Grand Prix


Digital

From 362 entries in Digital, 36 Spikes were awarded: 4 Gold Spikes / 11 Silver Spikes / 20 Bronze Spikes. The Grand Prix was presented to ‘Naughty or Nice Bauble’, for Myer, by Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne, Australia


Digital Craft

93 entries were received in Digital Craft and 12 Spikes were awarded: 2 Gold Spikes / 3 Silver Spikes / 6 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix went to ‘Stradivarius: Timeless Journey’, for Tokyo Stradivarius Festival 2018 Committee / Nippon Violin Co. Ltd, by DENTSU INC., Tokyo, Japan


Direct

290 entries were received, and 25 Spikes awarded in Direct: 3 Gold Spikes / 9 Silver Spikes / 12 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix was picked up by ‘UCB Agrobanking’, for UCB UCash, by GREY Bangladesh, Dhaka, Bangladesh


Entertainment

From 155 entries, 17 Spikes were awarded: 3 Gold Spikes / 4 Silver Spikes / 9 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix was presented to ‘The Translator’, for Julie's, by GOVT Singapore, Singapore


Film

416 entries were received in Film and 40 Spikes were awarded: 6 Gold Spikes / 15 Silver Spikes / 18 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix went to ‘10 Sec. Drama: ‘The Stop Line of Love’, for JMS/TACTI, by HAKUHODO Kettle Inc, Tokyo / HAKUHODO INC., Tokyo, Japan


Film Craft

The 264 entries resulted in 26 Spikes being awarded: 3 Gold Spikes / 7 Silver Spikes / 15 Bronze Spikes and a second Grand Prix went to ‘10 Sec. Drama: The Stop Line of Love’, for JMS/TACTI, by HAKUHODO Kettle Inc, Tokyo / HAKUHODO INC., Tokyo, JAPAN


Glass – The Award for Change

From 26 entries, 3 Spikes were awarded: 2 Spikes and the Grand Prix went to ‘Sons #ShareTheLoad’ for P&G India, by BBDO INDIA Mumbai, India


Healthcare

In Healthcare 141 entries were received and 13 Spikes were awarded: 2 Gold Spikes / 5 Silver Spikes / 5 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix went to '#StopMithani', for HDFC Bank, by Leo Burnett India, Mumbai, India


Innovation

28 entries were received and 3 Spikes presented: 2 Innovation Spikes, alongside the Grand Prix that was awarded to ‘7:1 Furniture Collection’, for HomePro, by BBDO Bangkok, Thailand

From 37 entries in Integrated, 3 Spikes were awarded: 2 Silver Spikes and a second Grand Prix went to ‘Naughty or Nice Bauble’, for Myer, by Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne, Australia

335 entries were received and 31 Spikes awarded: 5 Gold Spikes / 11 Silver Spikes /14 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix went to ‘Uber Eats Australian Open Ambush’, for Uber, by Special Group, Sydney, Australia

From 100 entries in Mobile, 12 Spikes were awarded: 2 Gold Spikes / 4 Silver Spikes / 5 Bronze Spikes and the Grand Prix was awarded to ‘Safety Hub’, for NRMA, by CHE Proximity, Melbourne, Australia
