International creative agency 180 Amsterdam has appointed Stephen Corlett to the newly created position of Managing Director.
Stephen, who will take up the position on June 6, has been brought on board to join 180’s key leadership team and to further develop the agency’s world-class business, delivering 180 thinking for its clients. He will report to 180 CEO Kevin Dundas.
Stephen has worked both agency and client side, starting his career at Saatchi & Saatchi London with Kevin Dundas.
Kevin Dundas said: “Stephen and I first worked together ten years ago at Saatchi’s and I have watched his career closely ever since, admired the roles he’s taken and the success he’s had. I look forward to bringing that wealth of experience to bear on 180 and our clients”.
After Saatchi’s, Stephen moved to Amsterdam and Wieden + Kennedy, where he worked alongside 180 ECD Al Moseley on the Vodafone account. Stephen then led the team that won and created the first global Coca-Cola marketing platform in ten years, the ‘Coke Side of Life’ which included the iconic ‘Happiness Factory’ campaign.
He then joined fledgling agency Anomaly, New York as Brand Director leading the pitch-winning team that refocused the Converse brand following its Nike buyout.
He left Anomaly to move client side and joined Umbro as Brand Director handling the complete communications overhaul of the brand following its takeover by Nike. His work culminated in 2010 with Umbro being awarded Sports Brand of the Year by the Sports Industry Awards, beating Nike, adidas and the Premier League.
Stephen said of joining 180: “I learnt a huge amount being a client - working with smart, brilliant people - but I felt a desire to go back into the type of creatively led, highly motivated agency I have always loved; where the power of ideas is paramount and valued. 180 is a perfect fit, the team here has a relentless commitment to world class, transformational creativity”
