The appointment comes as the agency deepens its commitment to creative prowess with the arrival of an additional ECD team

180 Amsterdam has announced the appointment of Kika Douglas as its new chief creative officer (CCO).

Kika joins from Dentsu Creative Amsterdam, previously Achtung, where she was CCO and sat on the Global Dentsu Creative Council.

Kika began her career at JWT in Spain and has since spent the last 15 years working in lead creative roles at agencies including David&Goliath, Johannes Leonardo and AKQA, working across the globe to create memorable, business building work for the likes of Diesel, Porsche, KLM, The North Face, Malaria No More, and Nike Women. She has picked up many accolades and awards on the way - including top honours at Cannes Lions, D&AD, CLIOS and Eurobest for brands including VW, Adobe and Adidas Originals.

As a creative mentor, Kika is also actively engaged in proactive projects to connect the female creative community.

Sander Volten, global CEO of 180 said of the appointment, “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Kika to 180 Amsterdam. She combines exactly what 180 aspires to: a passion for empathetic leadership and a fierce desire to innovate and create stories that redefine the industry standard.”

Kika Douglas said, “I was drawn to 180 because of the agency’s clear vision to create The World As It Could Be. I believe in the power of creativity to positively impact the world and I’m excited to step into the CCO role and work alongside some of the best creative minds in the business to accelerate the creative innovation and cultural relevance of the agency’s great clients.”

Kika will take over the CCO role from 1st May 2023.

In addition, 180 Amsterdam has hired the ECD team Samyr Souen and Bern Hunter from Dentsu Creative Amsterdam. Samyr and Bern have been behind campaigns for clients including the cross-industry, award-winning ‘Snelweg Sprookjes’ for Volswagen. Previously Bern was at Wieden + Kennedy in Amsterdam working on Nike and EA Sports having spent his career in agencies across London, NYC and Paris. Samyr began his career in Sao Paulo before working in LA at David&Goliath and New York at SID LEE and Johannes Leonardo.

Sander Volten commented, “We’re thrilled that Samyr and Bern will be joining our ever-growing creative department. They will add a huge amount to the creative firepower and energy of the agency, something our people and clients will immediately feel the benefit of.”
