1.4 is a self-funded project which has been featuring the very best directing talent in short form filmmaking for over three and half years now. Curator Lyndy Stout has been at the forefront of championing this work for many years.
Now, 1.4 is super excited to announce the launch of its inaugural Show this year, which is establishing a new benchmark for the industry and the talent that makes it so vibrant.
Like the website, the 1.4 Show will present a real alternative to current industry awards - there are no categories, no judging panels, the films simply have to be fantastic.
Since its inception, 1.4 has aroused interest and built an impressive following amongst the creative industry in a short amount of time. Big supporters of the project are Bertie Miller and Dave Waters from boutique agency Watermill, who are also sponsoring the inaugural show alongside forward thinkers and great content makers Furlined, Caviar, Landia and The Mill +.
Says Bertie Miller, Founding Partner Watermill: "I love the idea of the 1.4 show. At last a show that awards brilliance with no agenda. There's no jury reaching a compromise, no interested parties looking out for each other and it's not a money making machine. Just Lyndy's infectious enthusiasm for emerging talent. She encourages us to look at fresh work everyday and keep taking risks. I wish the 1.4 show every success."
“1.4 is quite simply looking for the very best new short form filmmakers IN THE WORLD to be honoured in the inaugural 1.4 Show and Party in September this year," commented Lyndy Stout. "We want to celebrate the incredible creativity coming through the short form film sector. It’s a very exciting development in the 1.4 story”
The focus will be on new directing talent from around the world and the only criteria is that the work is less than five minutes and made over the past year. If your work qualifies for entry, you may submit it here. The 1.4 Show will be held at Shoreditch Studios on September 17 – it will be a great night out with delicious food, drinks, music and loads of opportunities to mix, mingle and meet interesting filmmakers in music videos, commercials and very short films.
