Sports retailer teams up with Anorak / NoA on action-packed film directed by Eivind Holmboe

XXL, one of Europe's biggest sports retailers, is out with a new and fresh take on the ski film category. In a crossover between action sports films and action comedy, we join a playful hunt set amid the breathtaking scenery of the Pyrenees — with high-speed stunts performed among peaks, slopes, streets, and even a lake.

Embracing its mission of making sporting goods available for everyone, the film features 100 local skiers from La Mongie chasing a rabbit, portrayed by experienced French riders Alex Remonnay and Leo Fourcade.

"For us, skiing is about getting out there and having fun. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out, a powder connoisseur, or a park rat. Winter is a playground with enough room for all of us. We wanted to encapsulate all that in a ski film, one that unites us all in the joy and thrill of coming together, enjoying winter as a common playground," says XXL Brand manager Ida Abrahamsen.

Behind the film is the Norwegian advertising agency Anorak / NoA, the film production company Einar Film and director Eivind Holmboe, who teamed up with DOP Baptise Sjöström and Simon Favier, known for their highly acclaimed work with Audi and Candide Thovex.

"With a broad audience, covering both professional skiers and those just starting out, we knew we had to make something that was as entertaining as it was skier friendly and bold, says creative team in Anorak / NoA, Jens-Petter Aarhus and Hallvard Fjeldbraaten. "Therefore, we decided to make a ski film that was not only filled with impressive tricks and stunts, but a crossover between action sports and action comedy. With a custom-made rabbit helmet from Sweet Protection, we created an iconic main character and gathered all different types of skiing together in one big rabbit hunt."

‘The Hunt’ was shot during 12 days on location in La Mongie in the Pyrenees and Andorra.

"I’ve never done a ski-film quite like this one," says Eivind Holmboe. "It was a crazy and fast paced production that turned out to be a lot of fun."
