‘Together Again’ is the touching story of a man’s journey to reconnect with his wife, who is suffering from dementia, with the help of an Admiral Nurse from Dementia UK.
The film opens with the man looking out to sea towards a remote lighthouse. At the top of the lighthouse, we can see his wife sitting, confused and alone. There seems to be no way that the two can be reunited until a boat appears at the beach, helmed by an Admiral Nurse. Together the nurse and husband undertake the stormy voyage across the sea, collecting a variety of objects en route. Finally the nurse and husband reach the lighthouse where initially, the wife appears frightened. Using the objects retrieved from the sea, the husband tries to stir memories and finally, when a record is played we see a magical moment of recognition light up in her face and the couple dance to the music, connected once more, if only for a fleeting time.
