The primary objective of this campaign was to highlight how Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband is changing the game of football. The challenge? Football fans don’t truly understand the relevance of 5G and how it will impact the game they love. 

Because the world of 5G doesn’t exist yet, our solution was to build one. And fully immerse fans in it. We created the Verizon 5G Stadium— a 360 degree, 4D projection dome that transported fans to the 5G stadium of the near future. While watching a game, they would use real 5G phones to truly experience how the network will transform their in-stadium experience in years to come.  

We kicked things off at Pro Bowl, showing fans how 5G will transform the broadcast.  We created the first-ever 8K, 360 degree, live-stream of an NFL game that was live stitched, something only made possible by a 5G network. This was accomplished by mounting our own 360 camera to the bottom of NFL’s existing Sky Cam, which had never been done before. 

Then, leading up to Super Bowl, we showed fans how 5G will revolutionise the in-stadium experience, by immersing them in the middle of an AFC/NFC All-Star battle. Using real 5G phones, they could interact with the world around them— exactly as they will in real NFL stadiums next year. Throughout the experience, the benefits of 5G came to life with engagements like interactive augmented reality wayfinding, real-time AR stats, multiple 4k camera streams, and volumetric instant replays. 

We had 10,245 attendees, 145,000 engagements, and 7.97mm ESPN pro-bowl viewers. We also saw, a 41% lift in brand affinity, a 30% jump in Likelihood to Recommend, and a 29% increase in being seen as a Leader in 5G tech.
