The combination of sound design and music balancing one another out and contributing to the many emotions that piece provokes was crucial. We wanted to address the seriousness and urgency of the matter within the music yet create a sense of hope and optimism. Through acknowledging “the look” aka racism comes awareness and action. The sound design in this piece is purposefully heightened so to make viewers feel like they’re experiencing the situations in real time. We hope that this piece will help to tackle the bias and micro-aggressions that exists towards black men and women every day.
